Huh ok. I'm gonna try later today to see what else can do. I dunno what to do honestly. Maybe I'll tinker with offering 2 sets on server? ( never tried before, dunno if possible)

Maybe use individual setups for road courses with a base available for those who prefer not to have to tinker. (Dan's idea but I like)

Looking at it generally I can see the argument for opening the setups especially with this mod where it seems like wheel and controller settings are twice as sensitive as any other mod Ive run.
However looking at it from a drivers perspective whos not all that great at road courses to begin with this idea has me very nervous (Not trying to sound selfish but is just my point of view)
I guess my point would be Im not against trying this idea but in my opinion if we go that far maybe we should do it everywhere and not just the road courses

I agree with that David. Series has always been a fixed setup...that way at least cars are on level playing field. But because I'm fair and want best for league and you guys, its what makes it hard to decide correct course of action. I'll still dig into it late tonight to see if anything can be done to find a good balance.

In my humble opinion, there should be just one setup. That's kinda what our series is all about.

Maybe use individual setups for road courses with a base available for those who prefer not to have to tinker. (Dan's idea but I like) I did mention that, but I also mentioned that if we did this, the fast guys who know how to tune would be even faster. It's just frustrating to me that I can make two little tweaks to the tune Ed had (Front and Rear Camber only) and make it so much easier for me to drive, and at the same time cause Ed to be unable to keep from looping it. I literally only lowered the camber front and rear. It should not make that much difference. And we have always run a set tune to be fair to everyone, I guess those that can adapt will have a better time with it, and those that have a set driving style will just keep dropping back. But I believe in the set tune system even if it would be better to run my own set-up. So go with the tune you think will be easier for the majority as always, it's the fairest way of doing things.

I'm not even racing so take what I have to say about it with a grain of salt and only for what you think its worth.I'm guessing the reason for a Fixed Setup is so that guys that are less experienced at least have some kind of chance competing, which goes hand in hand with a larger field of racers. And for the most part, more racers the more fun for everyone, for the most part... Being one of the less experienced participants I like fixed setups for this reason, 'however' ... it does take the tinkering out which can be a lot of fun, even for me. With no fixed setups there could always be the "Ian's Setup" available for download on the web site to tinker with or just to use as is. One thing I am sure of, and again only for what you think its worth, I think it should be completely one way or the other. Either fixed setups for every race or no fixed setups. With all of that said, I have never been a fan of changing horses in the middle of the stream. Joe.

Exactly Dan, earlier this year when I was able to help Ian with setups we ran into the exact same thing. Both be running same setups and cars would driving completely different, its beyond frustrating its just maddening beyond belief
Something I dont know if its possible on rfactor but I know Arca has it and I think also remember us discussing it before if we could run fixed setups but open up like just wedge or trackbar stuff you can adjust during the race that would be cool

I've been reading the comments on the server It must just come down to wheel settings. Dan and i both running chevys and for some reason the setup ed transferred is easy to drive then just the camber adjusted one of Dans. For some reason i too can't get the ass planted. But i really like the turn in off Dans. At any rate, server will be updated with skin pack today and I'm gonna pit the setup ed listed on. For next major season I'm gonna look hard at next mod or version of rfactor we'll run and spend the summer getting it dialed it or modified (mod) to what i feel we need. Thanks everyone for your input, i really do value it and take it to heart.

Good discussions and opinions. I run both fixed and open setup racing and usually suck at both but enjoy both for different reasons. This mod has opened my eyes to the importance of wheel sets for sure.

Honestly guys, I think it's just me. I have the same issue with tunes that are shared over on the V8's. I can drive any tune I get, as long as I can drop the camber. Everyone seems to run -5.0 or more, but if I run anything that high I can't turn. I have to drop it to a minimum of -3.5 or less before I can turn it with any confidence. Anything above that and it feels like the traction breaks on turn in, I guess I just need more contact between the tire and the road with my driving style, and I always run a little loose in the tail.

Dan I agree but will happily run whichever. On a good note this is the most response I've seen on a thread in a while, so if nothing else it's good for that.
